Brand Spankin' New

 So I'm a complete newbie to all this. But it seems fascinating. I'm tired of religions telling me I can't have spiritual peace if I can't enjoy myself. I was raised Roman Catholic, and they way I was taught even art that didn't directly praise their God would send me to hell. 
So I would like to ask one or a few members of ths community to hel me out in truly understanding this.
